About This Spot

Pulling up to The Farmer’s Daughter, you instantly feel the gentle rhythm of country living—a pace slow enough to savor but lively with the chatter of families and friends gathering for a shared meal. Set along the quiet stretch of Erwin Highway in Chuckey, Tennessee, this southern restaurant unfolds like a welcoming home where kitchen aromas drift warmly through open doors, inviting you in to take part in a timeless tradition.

Inside, the atmosphere strikes a perfect balance between bustling and relaxed. The setting is honest and familiar, with simple wooden tables arranged to encourage connection and conversation. Here, the pace is dictated not by a ticking clock but by the story of the food being served—a rhythm that mirrors a genuine southern family dinner rather than a hurried meal out.

The experience centers around hearty, home-style cooking that feels like a comforting embrace on a plate. Instead of a traditional menu, meals arrive family-style, crafted around thoughtfully prepared meats and an array of sides that bring together the flavors of the land: creamy, smoky, and rich with generations of southern heritage. Fried chicken, country ham, and pulled pork find their way to the table alongside seasonal vegetables, cornbread, and classic staples like mac and cheese or chicken and dumplings. There’s an unspoken delight in watching the plates come and go, each serving passed around with a shared sense of community.

Ending the meal with dessert here feels like the sweetest punctuation to a story well told—whether it’s a slice of pecan pie, banana pudding, or a luscious butterscotch treat, each bite echoes the care baked into every dish. It’s easy to see why conversations linger well beyond the last forkful, as guests soak up the warmth of both food and company.

What stands out most is the genuine hospitality woven into every detail. The staff moves with a quiet attentiveness that ensures glasses stay full and plates don’t empty for long, while the overall feeling is less about formal service and more about neighbors sharing a table. Even with crowds on busy weekends, there is a sense of being cared for—a slice of southern kindness that feels both rare and deeply rooted.

For those willing to make the scenic drive to this tucked-away gem, The Farmer’s Daughter offers more than a meal—it’s a moment to slow down, reconnect, and taste a bit of southern life that feels both timeless and personal.

10 of us ladies traveled from Knoxville toGreeneville to enjoy this fine restaurant. The only problem I saw is that 10 people had to share the choice of two meats. We should’ve had at least three meats to choose from, with that many people. Ample food was served great waitress! The food was delicious, and the price was fair! We enjoyed our time at the Farmer’s daughter and I do believe several of us will go back again with different groups! It is a Jewel in Green County!

Family style dinner. Daily menu on chalkboard outside right of building. Park over there for sure. We came in other side and didn’t see menu. You choose two meats for table and get all the sides along with bread for table. Everyone gets their own dessert. Not sure on prices but was $65 for 3 adults and one 4 year old. Food was delicious. Can’t take leftovers but you will leave full. Recommend the buttermilk chicken if available.

My family and I love this place! They serve amazing food! We love the family style and the staff are incredible! My glass never hit empty and neither did the plates! They are only open a friday through sunday so it can get packed. The wait times can be a little lengthy but they have an amazing waiting area! me and my family drive from NC!

Great dining experience, exceptional service, tremendous family and warm atmosphere. I unexpectedly met Rachel the Owner and her father the “Farmer”. Treated my family and I like we were eating Thanksgiving dinner in their home. Same can be said of the serving staff, everyone infectiously friendly and serving with smiling faces. Highly recommend, worth the beautiful and scenic drive from any Tri-City area. Also know these folk are local heroes from the 2024 floods. They fed thousands of people in the area when families couldn’t feed themselves when they lost their homes and power. They did this at no cost to those they served. Check them out, you will not be disappointed.

Wow. Just WOW. What wonderful home cooked food. Truly a delicious restaurant with friendly caring service. Not a typical restaurant as they do not give you a menu. It is a pick your meat and get what you get as sides. Which was a wonderful selection of sides. Meatloaf and fried chicken tenders were SO good. All the sides were delicious too. Dessert is included- we choose butterscotch pie and peanut butter pie. It did not disappoint. Kids ages 3-5 also were just 5 bucks!! Lemonade and sweet tea tasted homemade and were perfect! We will definitely be back before we leave this little town!

When our relatives told us to get there before 10 for thanksgiving dinner, we thought they were nuts.... Until we got there. They were smart, the line ended up being A SOLID QUARTER MILE LONG. We had come from ohio, the people in front of us came from Virginia. To eat there. We were the only people that didn't have to wait a long time, I feel sorry for those at the end of that quarter mile. I was very surprised at the all you can eat format, it made me wish I was bulimic . I know, I'm insensitive. Anyway, the waitress was super nice, the table was a little small for the amount of food on there. As other people have mentioned, they bring out a lot of small portions of stuff. If I was broke and hungry, I could eat for years off of what other people didn't eat that was brought out. Not a criticism, just an observation. Anyway, they brought out turkey and ham, I had the ham, it was three thin cold strips on a plate. I feel like it would be a lot better if these slices were thicker. The ham itself was very good. The mac and cheese was real. They didn't load it up with flour to save money. The strawberry salad was incredible. The server interrupted us a lot, but it's thanksgiving, there is a quarter mile line outside and she had a job to do so I didn't take offense. They only take cash. That alone would be reason to return. They also give to the community, when disaster struck recently they were there for everybody. They make sure everybody was fed and water at no charge. What a great way to make sure your business succeeds! It took a long time to pay and get out of there but again, it's thanksgiving. Will I go back? I definitely will. What makes this place all that? It's the food. It's real. And that's really all it is. Real food. You don't see a Sysco truck backing up. They don't buy Frozen turkey roll. I gave four stars out of five only because of what a zoo it was, I'm sure this is going to upgrade to five on my next visit.
